Konecranes UK Ltd has won a Gold award in the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011
The Gold award will bepresented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2011.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), a safety charity, launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
Konecranes upholds its position as a global leader by promoting occupational health and safety excellence. We are committed to protecting the health and safety of each employee and our objective is to create an understanding that safety has a direct correlation to our financial success. With a deeply-rooted safety culture we also promote safety to our customers and subcontractors, and provide lifting solutions in accordance with safety regulations. By applying safety features to our products and services, our customers benefit from improved efficiency of their operations and increased performance of their business.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. Konecranes UK Ltd has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award.”
Dave Harvey, Konecranes Quality Manager, said ‘Winning the RoSPA gold award this is a great achievement for Konecranes in the UK. It is the first safety award we have won and highlights Konecranes commitment to safety’.
The majority of RoSPA’s awards are non-competitive, marking achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Organisations maintaining high standards can win gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction.
Competitive awards are presented in more than 20 sectors, and specialist awards recognise excellence in specific areas, such as the management of occupational road risk.
The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.
Three days of award ceremonies and three gala evening dinners will be held in Birmingham from May 17-19, alongside Safety & Health Expo 2011, Europe’s leading annual health and safety exhibition. An award ceremony and gala dinner will also take place in Glasgow in September.
